About The Curriculum Materials Library


CML Mission

The Curriculum Materials Library at the University of Rhode Island primarily serves the instructional and research needs of students and faculty of the School of Education. Its mission is to support the URI School of Education and the University curriculum by assisting education majors in the development of lesson plans, instructional materials and activities through the provision of appropriate resources, technologies, and library services.

CML Objectives

  • The Curriculum Materials Library at the University of Rhode Island provides high quality education materials for the use of pre-service and in-service teachers and students in grades preK-12.
  • Priority is given to collecting materials that best support the course requirements in the School of Education.
  • The CML collection development policy is coordinated with the University of Rhode Island Libraries’ collection development policy and mission of service.

Resources

The Curriculum Materials Library collection consists of specialized resources such as juvenile/young adult books, reference materials, preK-12 textbooks, teacher professional materials, electronic instructional media, kits and manipulatives, curriculum frameworks, maps, posters, and educational tests.

Services

  • Reference services, including email reference and readers’ advisory services
  • Library instruction for undergraduate and graduate education students
  • Consultation about CML educational materials and their use
  • Assistance to faculty in selecting CML materials
